PROCESS SAFETY SOLUTIONS

In potentially hazardous industrial environments, process safety is vital to prevent and control incidents that have the potential to cause toxic effects, fire or explosion. With the support of Bureau Veritas experts to understand and manage your risks, you can help to reduce the frequency and severity of incidents, as well as learn from incidents when they happen.

WHY IS PROCESS SAFETY IMPORTANT?

Process safety can reduce the risk of accident or incident. This protects people, equipment and buildings, whilst also helping to achieve compliance with workplace safety legislation. It is important to take practical steps to improve safety, mitigate risks and learn from incidents if they do occur.

OUR PROCESS SAFETY SOLUTIONS

  • DSEAR Assessment

Our assessments in the design and operational stage combine desktop assessment and site inspection, to support clients in managing the risks of dangerous substances and explosive atmospheres and help achieve compliance with DSEAR Regulations. Includes hazardous area classification and zone drawings.

  • DSEAR Training

Our half-day awareness course is available face to face or delivered remotely. Your team can understand DSEAR regulations and applications, define dangerous substances under DSEAR regulations and define and apply Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) and zoning. Also includes explosive atmosphere risk assessment.

  • Fire Risk Assessment (FRA)

Available standalone or packaged with a DSEAR Assessment, our Fire Risk Assessments provide a holistic evaluation that considers occupancy level and vulnerability, to achieve compliance with applicable regulations. Our team provides actionable recommendations on detection, suppression and evacuation for enhancing fire safety.

  • Hazard Identification (HAZID)

Early-stage design support for critical issue identification focuses on the major accident hazards to prevent a Major Accident Event (MAE). We follow a holistic approach towards major hazard source identification in design, siting, construction, maintenance, operation and decommissioning, providing cost-effective safeguard improvements through early identification and definition.

  • Hazard & Operability (HAZOP)

Collaborative detailed hazard identification across design, engineering and operations includes systematic investigation for every credible deviation from the plant intended design and operational conditions. Our team applies a guidewords approach to evaluate potential hazardous scenarios, with ALARP remedial recommendations for risk prevention mitigation and control.

  • SIL Assessment

An initial integrity evaluation of the Safety Instrumented Systems (SISs) defined during HAZOP or Process Hazard Assessment. We focus on hazardous events with risk rating above ALARP,  determining the required Risk Reduction Factor (RRF) to maintain ALARP or achieving broadly acceptable risk area. Our SIL Assessment also determines the Safety Integrity Level (SIL) required from SISs to maintain safe state of the Equipment Under Control (EUC).

  • Emergency System Survivability Analysis (ESSA)

Identification of the required emergency systems which shall remain operational during emergency condition - Major Hazard Events (MAEs). Our study will confirm the survivability requirements for facility structures and equipment to ensure safe personnel escape and evacuation, and validate emergency systems' fail-safe architecture, redundancy, and resilience to Major Hazardous Event conditions.

  • Safety Critical Element (SCE) Identification

Identification of the control systems and safeguards which may contribute, prevent or mitigate the Major Hazard Events (MAEs). Our team will group Safety Critical Systems (SCEs) by operational function and behaviour during MAEs, before defining key integrity criteria (performance standards) of the SCEs to ensure the safety of the potentially hazardous facility.
