CERTIFICATION GAP ANALYSIS

Understand the readiness of your management system to meet certification standards

Certification to global or sector standards helps you to demonstrate regulatory compliance, reduce risk, drive efficiencies and optimise confidence – all whilst enhancing stakeholder confidence.

In most cases, achieving certification requires the development of a management system to applicable standards. Bureau Veritas is here to help you every step of the way, guiding you through your certification journey, including with a gap assessment.

WHAT IS A MANAGEMENT SYSTEM GAP ASSESSMENT AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

A gap assessment – otherwise known as a pre-audit or pre-assessment audit, gives you the insights to understand where your management system currently is, where you want it to get to, and to identify any gaps to achieve that. It is a strategic step towards certification to global or sector standards.

Without a gap assessment, it is difficult to identify progress or to establish what steps you need to take to reach a particular certification standard.

WHAT ARE THE STEPS INVOLVED IN A GAP ASSESSMENT?

Each gap assessment is unique to your business, your management system and your certification objectives, but typical steps include:

  1. Reviewing your management system against the requirements of the relevant certification standard

  2. Identifying any gaps where your management system does or does not comply with the requirements

  3. Discussing appropriate actions to close any gaps in your management system

Our team will produce a report which sets out our findings from the above steps and proposes a plan to correct non-conformities in order to meet the required standard.

WHEN IS A GAP ASSESSMENT APPROPRIATE?
