The two part survey examines an organisation's environmental policies and practices and, uniquely, how employees engage with them. The employer survey collects information from organisations on their approach to environmental management, whilst the employee survey (the unique part) seeks to understand the extent to which environmental strategies are embedded in, understood and acted on, throughout the organisation.
Richard Caseby, Managing Director for The Sunday Times commented "making a profit for shareholders is no longer enough. Today companies have a wider responsibility to minimise the impact of what they do on the environment". Over 90 companies took part in the competition and we hope to welcome even more for the 2011 awards.
The top 60 companies who participated were also announced at an awards event in Kensington, London which was hosted by The Sunday Times. Bureau Veritas' Chief Executive Paul Barry was one of the speakers and presented an award to Wilmott Dixon.
All participating organisations will receive a free feedback report from Bureau Veritas and Munro Global, outlining key findings and scores from the surveys, benchmarking performance against all participants and other organisations in the competitive set. At a glance organisations will also be able to see which areas of their environmental strategies have been successful with their staff, helping to better understand the employees thoughts and gain commitment from them.
