In the latest edition of Facilities Management Journal (FMJ), Chris Ward, Asbestos Practice Leader at Bureau Veritas, summarises the latest guidance on checking the competence of asbestos surveys, planning a survey and using the results to manage asbestos risks.
Asbestos is responsible for thousands of deaths every year, with the current estimate standing at approximately 4,000 annually. In an attempt to reduce this number, the Health & Safety Executive released HSG 264 Asbestos - The Survey Guide, which also targets a wider audience than before.
