Bureau Veritas assists the Supply Chain in addressing the New EU Toy Safety Directive
Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services rolls out its EU Toy Supply Chain Risk Management Solution to its global client network of manufacturers, importers and retailers engaged in the toy consumer products industry. The Solution has been developed to help the supply chain in coping with the new and higher safety requirements as stipulated in the new EU Toy Safety Directive (2009/48/EC) published on June 30, 2009 with a focus on continual improvement.

Research highlights that 30% of the Toy Manufacturers & Distributors are still unsure of the impacts of the revised Toy Safety Directive
Research from Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services UK has found that more than 30% of companies manufacturing, importing or distributing toys in Europe are still unsure of the impacts of the revised Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC on their operations. Toy professionals are not left with a lot of time to comply since the Directive will come into force on the 20th July 2011 (and on the 20th July 2013 for the section regulating the use of chemicals in toys).

Consumer product carbon footprints up to 60% higher than necessary, with simple solutions being ignored by manufacturers
Research from Bureau Veritas, the leading specialist in Quality, Health, Safety & Environment, Conformity and Supply Chain Risk Management, conducted on more than 2,000 products, highlights that consumer products’ carbon footprint is up to 60% higher than necessary and that simple steps by manufacturers could save UK 1 million tonnes each year in carbon.
