Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (Rspo) Supply Chain Certification Systems

Prove your commitment to Sustainable Palm Oil

RSPO - Business Challenge

Today, palm oil has become the world’s most widely used vegetable oil, with 50 million metric tons produced in 2012. Used both in food and non-food industries, palm oil has a central role to play in the economic development of its producing countries and the nourishment of millions of people.

After a sharp increase in the production of palm oil from the 1990s to the present day, as well as pressures on the environment and on local populations, a global reaction from the palm oil production chain and stakeholders is required. Using RSPO certified sustainable palm oil commits your company to sustainability while maintaining a sufficient supply of palm oil without damaging the living conditions of indigenous communities and the biodiversity of adjacent ecosystems.

What is RSPO?

Founded in 2004, the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil is a not-for-profit organisation whose primary objective is to promote the growth and use of sustainable palm oil.

Seven sectors of the palm oil industry take part in the decision process including producers, processors or traders, manufacturers, retailers, banks and investors, environmental conservation NGOs and social or developmental NGOs.
