PAPER BY NATURE PDF

Paper by Nature Certification

The first pan-European eco-label certifying converted paper products.

What is Paper by Nature?

The European consumer's behaviour has changed in that a product's environmental impact has become an increasingly important factor in their decision making process. The paper sector has responded by incorporating different regulations and recommendations resulting in the creation of numerous labels, some country specific and others concerning only specific paper products. The multitude of labels has only confused the consumer more. Paper by Nature’s objective is to offer European consumers the first global, pan-European, clear and trustworthy reference for converted paper products, integrating the best environmental practices from the selection of raw materials to the final product: the only way to ensure your clients and consumers clearly understand your company's commitment to protecting the Environment.

Why is Paper by Nature® unique?

Paper by Nature is the only existing pan-European eco-label dedicated to converted paper products.

The eco-label was launched by key players from the paper and paper converting industry: federations of converters MECSEA* and FEPE**, and paper manufacturers Stora Enso, UPM Kymmene and ArjoWiggins.

The highly demanding eco-label criteria take into account the products’ environmental impact from the selection of raw materials to the end product. The eco-label includes mandatory requirements relative not only to the fiber’s origins but also the manufacturing methods, conversion and printing of the paper or cardboard. The objectives of these criteria are: reduction of VOC*** emissions, reduction/prevention of environmental and health risks related to hazardous substances, use of paper and paperboard substrate with low environmental impact.

The Paper by Nature® label can be awarded following an audit by Bureau Veritas Certification, the world’s leading certification body.
