Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services sponsors the ASBCI Spring Conference: "The Reality of UK Manufacturing"

Warrington, 8th April, 2016 – Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services (BVCPS) is delighted to be sponsoring the 2016 Spring Conference of the Association of Suppliers to the British Clothing Industry (ASBCI) which is taking place on Tuesday 19th April in Peterborough.
conference – 'The reality of UK manufacturing: Is it a sustainable
option?' – will cover key consumer, operations, quality, sourcing and
ethical issues related to the revival of UK garment production, while the
speakers will offer their views on the implications of “Brexit” to the British
one-day conference will include an exceptional line-up of speakers from across
the industry including Verdict Retail, Cordings, Closet, ASOS, English Fine
Cottons, David Bell, Assyst Bullmer, Make It British and Roy Lowe & Sons
Veritas will actively participate in the programme and Ian Morris, Technical
Consultant for Bureau Veritas Consumer Services, will give his views on how
technical standards developed in the UK have contributed to the retail world.
The UK has indeed a legacy of developing standards, with the support of
industry and retail experts working for the British Standards Institute (BSI)
and linked to CEN in Europe. Over the years, there has been a significant
contribution of developed standards from the UK, including in clothing, both
for children’s and adults’ products, for example flammability or cords &
drawstrings, which have since been adopted globally.
Mohammed Khaled, CSR Technical Regional Manager (EMEA) at Bureau Veritas
Consumer Products Services, will be part of a panel discussion, chaired by the
Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), answering questions from delegates
around ethical practices in factories in the UK and the Modern
Bureau Veritas is, naturally, an active member of the ASBCI, contributing widely and sitting on many of the organisation’s committees and will have a strong presence at the Spring Conference.
