Bureau Veritas UK Limited is certified as one of Britain’s Top Employers

London, UK, March 22, 2013 - Bureau Veritas UK Limited is certified as a Britain’s Top Employer 2013 and received its award at a prestigious ceremony in London on 21 March.  Based on independent research conducted by the CRF Institute, Bureau Veritas UK Limited offers its employees outstanding working conditions and employment practices and looks after its staff exceptionally well.

The CRF Institute, a specialist in the field of international research into HR management and working conditions, has just completed this year’s research into the HR policies and practices of a large number of employers in Britain. Bureau Veritas UK is one of the few organisations that received the Britain’s Top Employers 2013 certification.

The organisations examined were assessed on the following criteria: Primary Benefits, Secondary Benefits and Working Conditions, Training and Development, Career Development, and Culture Management. Only those organisations that met the stringent research criteria received the Britain’s Top Employers certification.

Paul Barry, CEO of Bureau Veritas UK Limited, is one of the people responsible for developing the outstanding employer qualities of the company: “I am delighted that Bureau Veritas UK has met the exacting standards in each of the five critical areas identified by Britain's Top Employers 2013.

Bureau Veritas considers employee satisfaction, training and development and career progression as an essential part of our people practices and gaining this prestigious award will help us to further engage our existing staff and to recruit high calibre new employees. We will not rest on our laurels and will use the award to help shape further improvements to our people practices and in enhancing our employer brand."

Orla Maher, who works in the Sustainability Services team and has been with Bureau Veritas for 18 months, said “Bureau Veritas has given me the experience of working as part of a company which provides a diverse range of services in a variety of countries. We operate in a way which promotes flexibility for staff in location and role where there are always opportunities to get involved in different arenas.  I've worked across two teams on projects in countries all over Europe in the past year.

It’s been a great place for me to gain experience where the emphasis is placed on fast paced development of people in the business with a ‘can do’ attitude applied to all tasks and projects. For me, I've had valuable experience of client facing presentations and exposure to the management and executive team.  There is formal training provided including management development and broader training programmes for development of new recruits in the business. This has given me a new team to work with and support from executive level where we work directly with the CEO, HR Director and Business Partners, Managing Directors of the different divisions and the Learning and Development Manager on the projects we undertake together."

Eleanor Nickerson, Manager of UK Operations for the CRF Institute: “The economy has been tough for the UK during the past year, but we’ve consistently seen our certified Top Employers showing that they value their talent by making sure that they have outstanding employee offerings in place. We’ve also seen a shift towards more coaching, mentoring and training, as employers seek to ensure that they develop employees and that attractive career opportunities are in place for them. We have seen a wide range of creative initiatives, from secondary benefits and working conditions, to performance-management programmes that are well-thought-out and truly aligned with the culture of each company."
