Bureau Veritas strikes gold not once, but twice, at RoSPA Awards.
Bureau Veritas UK Limited’s approach to occupational safety and health was recognised with the presentation of the Gold Award and the MORR: Gold Award at the RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2013 held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel, on Thursday May 16, 2013. The awards are run by the safety charity, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).
Bureau Veritas UK & Ireland Ltd CEO, Paul Barry said, “We are extremely proud to be only one of 19 companies in the UK to have been awarded a ‘Double Gold’; such recognition confirms our continued commitment to providing the highest possible standards of safety in the workplace. Workplace safety is a ‘culture’ and this award recognises the contribution of all our employees.”
Paul continued, “The awards, presented by Michael Parker, CBE, RoSPA Trustee, will be joining the Britain’s Top Employer 2013 award we achieved in March and recognises the progress our business has made in recent years. I am absolutely delighted that multiple areas of excellence are being recognised; it’s been an impressive first half year!”
Dating back 57 years, the RoSPA Awards scheme is the largest and longest-running programme of its kind in the UK. It recognises commitment to accident and ill health prevention and is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas. The scheme not only looks at accident records, but also entrants’ overarching health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
The majority of awards that RoSPA presents are non-competitive, marking achievement at merit, bronze, silver and gold levels. Organisations maintaining high standards can win gold medals, president’s awards and orders of distinction. Competitive awards are presented in more than 20 sectors, and competitive awards also recognise excellence in specialist areas, such as the management of occupational road risk (MORR).
